Smartbee Site Management Support Service Now Available outside Range Like Tunnels and Underground
KCCS Mobile Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hyngbae Kim; henceforth "KCME") in FY2021 has completed development effort to make SmartBee, its site management support service, available to site workers out of the range such as in a tunnel or underground.
SmartBee is a cloud service that enables centralized management of work items and site information on your current devices. It will not only reduce management workload but also allow you to grasp on-site situations in real-time and lessen errors and person-hours.
SmartBee is being used and well-received by a wide range of customers engaging in construction and inspection work. Meanwhile, some have expressed their desire for use in environments that radio waves do not reach, such as in tunnels, underground facilities, and mountains in rural areas. However, it is a cloud service, which needs a web browser to display and is not available under conditions without radio waves. As a result, on-site users had to make notes using smartphones or paper and enter data to SmartBee's work item entry form when they came into service range. That had led to omissions and miswriting
To address this, we enabled the entry and storage of work item data, whether online or offline, by pre-saving an issued work item entry form in the device using indexedDB, one of the technologies for saving data in a browser.
As a result, we have received positive feedback from our customers that the upgrade has eliminated the need to move into the service range for data entry, omissions, and miswriting. That has improved work efficiency, they said. Furthermore, according to some of our customers, the change has played a role in the more efficient tallying processes, because it has enabled managing as data all those tasks that they have previously managed as data or on paper depending on the work environment,
With the upgrade development of SmartBee, we have been able to gain recognition for its effectiveness, and now many more organizations are considering introducing it.
We will continue to improve SmartBee's functionality while promoting the deployment, keeping in mind possible future users and uses other than construction management.
